Meditation

"Meditation has no technique, no method. All the techniques and methods are for concentration, not meditation. We all have been blessed with the ‘third eye' equally, to look within directly - we do not require any technique or method to enter within."

Swami Vishvas Ji

Frequently asked questions

Vishvas Meditation is the natural, original and simplest form of meditation, very secular in nature. It is the easiest form, beyond all self efforts. Also known as insight meditation, Vishvas Meditation is a popular form of mindfulness that any person can know easily. It is a process, a fairly easy one. It is not a theology. Anyone can follow it easily; it is quite a natural process of insight.

You do not have to do anything in natural meditation. Instead, simply watch the doings of the mind.

Watching is not a practice. To watch is our true nature. Watching is a natural process that does not require any effort, technique or method. When this natural process of watching turns inwards, towards our inner world – it is called ‘meditation’.

Just as we have the outer two eyes to look at the outer world, similarly when we close our outer eyes – 80% of our energy is accumulated within, and we automatically start witnessing inside. Whether we find darkness, emptiness, thoughts or emotions within, it is all being witnessed by the ‘third eye’ or inner eye.

The Process

Simply close your eyes and look within. There is total darkness prevailing inside. Do not be afraid of this darkness. This has been your own accumulation since many births. You just keep experiencing it. In this darkness, the magic of the mind usually starts. Mounds of thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions, illusions, expectations, ego, anxieties, reactions, conversations, ambitions, memories, etc. will be displayed by the mind’s computer. The material of the mind is like an unedited videotape.

Meditation is a direct approach to the mind – where you watch your mind directly as a seer, a witness, an observer, as a neutral energy. The most important key to remember is that Vishvas Meditation does not involve concentrating on one point of focus, like a mantra, a form, the breath, candle or any black point on the forehead. It is simple awareness, watching your mind, your thoughts within, and noticing everything you feel, letting your mind drift freely around towards whatever catches your attention, your consciousness – but without becoming emotionally attached or involved with it.

Swami Vishvas Ji explains, “Open your awareness as an observer, what do you feel, listen, look, smell? Do not attempt to concentrate on any one thing. Simply let your mind go where it will, not to judge what is good or what is bad, just observe. Do not become emotionally attached or involved with anything you watch or observe, just watch. Do not dive into the thoughts and any playing of mind, do not dive in the past or in the future, just watch the thoughts, the traffic of thoughts like a bystander, a seer. Do not identify with them. Follow your own awareness only. Practice this Meditation each day and soon you will see your feelings and thoughts as small parts of your conscious, but not you. They will be of some interest, but they will not control you. You will now control, not they.”

Remember, the mind, the thoughts have no energy of their own. They work in your energy. You are the Sun shining inside. The moment you retreat from the mind’s play and watch it as a bystander, a neutral energy, instead of struggling, suppressing, condemning, interfering, concentrating, involving or judging mind’s activities- this simple process dissolves all unnecessary thoughts, freeing you from all dualities and negativities of the mind such as stress, tensions, anger, ego, reactions, fear, anxiety, depression etc., and brings you into the ‘present’, which is full of bliss, balance, clarity, positivity, right thinking, peace, relaxation, joy, energy and shining good health.

Vishvas Meditation integrates the scattered mind, helping you regain your mastership over the mind in a natural way. It is an inner technology that works on it own, transforming the mind automatically. You do not have to do anything to enact this transformation.

We ask you Why Not !

If the mind is healthy, physical health would last.
Else, one day it would be a thing of the past!

It is Meditation that provides you total health – shining good health – unshakeable by external circumstances!

When it comes to good health, most people relate it to merely physical fitness. They believe that just being physically fit is an assurance for good health, happiness and balance. However, little do they realize that the physical body is an assimilation of myriads of cells, nerves, organs and functions, all guided and controlled by the mind! The mind is the real powerhouse that controls and balances all chemical reactions & processes of the body. You may spend hours gymming, cycling, swimming, walking or performing yogic asans or exercises, in an effort to attain a toned & strong body, however, the minute stress or negativity occurs in any form, if the mind is not strong or healthy enough to handle it, it sets into an over thinking mode, in turn uprooting and disturbing the physical functions and processes of the body. Eventually, the physical health also goes for a toss, as if it never existed! Once gone, it becomes even more difficult to get back the physical health we had been running after!

Remember, physical health alone is temporary.
Health can never last unless treated as a WHOLE!

Complete health is a symphony of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. There is so much that happens in this journey called Life! A strong body alone cannot generate the will power, tolerance, clarity and positivity required to handle and overcome the difficulties, negativities, pressures and ups & downs of life! These are the qualities of a sound mind. This is where meditation comes into the picture. It is meditation that equips you with a strong and sound mind, directly impacting the physical body as well, bringing all your hormones and chemicals into complete balance, developing all round health & harmony(both physical & mental). Meditation is a natural medicine bestowed upon us by the Universe to provide us total health – and this medicine comes totally free!

Vishvas Meditation ( VM ) is the Simplest, Natural and most Original form of meditation: No suppressing, controlling, struggling, fighting or wrestling with the mind !
VM is very secular in nature: It does not propagate any sect or religion. It is very scientific in nature and is only concerned with self – improvement or improvisation.
VM is effortless: It is the most easiest and direct meditation that brings about miraculous improvement in no time!
VM has no fee or charges: Vishvas Foundation conducts these sessions all over India and abroad, totally free of cost, under the benign guidance of Gurudev Shri Swami Vishvas Ji.
Vishvas Meditation has NO FEE – NO CHARGES- NO PACKAGE DEALS.

As Swami Vishvas Ji says: “Meditation is God’s grace, Guru’s Grace. It is to be shared, not to be sold. It can never be made a commercial commodity. Meditation is a subject of Vibrations, not bookish knowledge. In fact it can be attained very easily in the company of a Spiritual Master, an Awakened Soul.”

HOW to do it:
Meditation, if practiced in its original & natural form, is the fastest and most effective way to lasting health & balance.

It is as simple as this:

Simply close your eyes and look within.

Watch Your Mind – Directly !

Whatever the mind projects, whether there is darkness, emptiness or loneliness – simply watch it!

If thoughts arise – simply watch them!

Just be a seer, be a witness, be an observer!

No matter how good, bad or ugly the thought may be, remember, it is just a thought – transient and temporary! No thought lasts forever. Moreover, all thoughts, positive or negative, rob you of energy. So during meditation, why indulge in anything temporary and waste our precious present moments and energy.

When in meditation:
Do not judge – do not analyze – do not imagine – do not concentrate – do not recite – do not visualize- do not suppress – do not condemn, any of your thoughts. Do not do anything in meditation! Instead, simply watch all mind’s play as a non-doer, as a bystander, an observer – without participating, preferring or siding with any thought.

Swami Vishvas Ji explains, “We are all blessed with the ‘third eye’ to look within directly. We do not require any concentration technique, method, medium or support to enter within or depend upon. To watch is our true and original nature. When this watchfulness turns inwards, it is called Meditation.”
All concentration techniques, visualization methods, recitation mantras are merely mental exercises that would keep you within the domain of the mind and further strengthen THE MIND’S habit of doing. That is NOT meditation! It is the constantly over active mind that generates all negativity. So, if you continue to give your mind something or the other to do in meditation also, the entire purpose of meditation gets defeated! The purpose of meditation is to bring you to a state where there is total rest, relaxation, peace, harmony and balance. These are the qualities that lie Beyond Mind when the mind comes to rest. You cannot experience absolute calm, rest and serenity if the mind is indulging in some or the other activity – such as focusing, reciting, visualizing etc. You have done enough mental activities in the outer world. Now stop doing them when you enter within! Hence, when in meditation, do not give your mind anything to do. Rather, simply watch your mind, its thoughts – as an observer, a non-doer, a neutral energy.

Here, we must understand that watching is not an activity. To watch is our true nature. Watching does not require any effort. The moment you close your outer eyes, you automatically start witnessing within. Watching is a natural process. Stay tuned with your real nature when in meditation. Your nature is to watch. You are not the doer. You are the Seer, the Observer, the ‘Sakshi’. That is your true nature. Arise, awake, be aware of the mind’s play – simply remain a witness to it. ( See link Busting Myths’Busting Myths‘)

Remember, mind is the greatest politician, the greatest engineer.
It would try every trick to engulf you. If there has been any event in the past that hurts or upsets you, the mind would bring up just that, hence a politician! If you refuse to get carried away with such negativities, the mind might just build the most positive, rosy & pleasant imaginations to engulf you, hence an engineer! Either ways, it tries to trick you – by creating a web around you.

No More! Be brave. Be aware. Be awakened. Be a witness. Remember, you are the Master, the Sun shining inside. Do not get carried away with the mind’s play. If you do, come back ! Retreat !!!

How it helps:
As you stop participating in the mind’s monkey like play, and continue to remain a witness, the thoughts cannot move further without your permission. They stop multiplying. Eventually, all unnecessary thoughts begin to dissolve and a state of thoughtlessness comes to happen naturally, without any force or efforts – which is full of health, happiness, positivity and all mind powers such as will power, memory power, concentration power, right thinking, energy and complete balance.

They do send certain spurts at regular intervals which are always misunderstood, for e.g. sudden backache or cervical spondylitis, headaches, migraines etc. which are/may be due to the sudden spurts of energy produced by solar plexuses or related plexuses. In a nutshell, the root cause of the diseases is the mismanagement of energy due to various factors- dietary, emotional, developmental or environmental. So how does one deal with this?

The word ‘meditation’ comes from the word ‘medication’ or ‘medicine’, which means ‘to cure’.

Swami Vishvas Ji explains, “Meditation creates, calms, strengthens and energizes. Given a restful period of time in which to regroup, the body tunes and realigns itself thoroughly.”

Vishvas Meditation is a very scientific process that maintains a regular flow of energy in the body, bringing all the chemicals and hormones of the body into complete balance, hence enhancing the recovery and healing process. This simple and scientific process regulates the flow of energy, harnesses the hidden sources of energy and activates the energy plexuses, automatically controlling the whole body mechanism in people doing regular practice.

After that, the extra energy you feel inside yourself, can be devoted to Human-Service. It is very interesting to understand this and if followed at mass-scale, can result in a stress free, developed and beautiful society. This will give a different kind of peace and bliss. If followed regularly, it will not only make you stress free, tension free but altogether a different personality.

As Swami Ji adds, “Besides generating good health, meditation creates awareness and awakening, providing all round physical, mental and emotional development.”

REMEMBER

True Love is the Other Name of Meditation

Swami Vishvas Ji states, “Materialism alone is unfulfilling, unless combined with the inner quest that provides the real answers. The world may not give us everything we want. People, philosophies, societies may disappoint us. But the love and peace we are looking for is right within us. Remember, love which is merely an emotion or a state of mind is dependant on external circumstances. As the external events alter, so does your happiness. But love that comes from the inner realms is eternal, provides unshakeable peace, the outer world not having much of an influence there. True love is the other name of Meditation that enables us to love ourselves better, forgive and forget more easily and serve our fellow human beings, our Mother Land and co-exist in harmony with the international community.”

Hence, meditation is indispensable in modern times for good health, mental peace and emotional strength.

People often have queries regarding their Lifestyle, Wardrobe, Eating Habits, Age Limit, Posture in meditation, Best Timings for meditation etc. Here we clear all your doubts.

Age Limit / Lifestyle / Wardrobe / Eating Habits

Vishvas Meditation, as propagated by Swami Vishvas Ji is a natural, simple, secular and a very scientific process, having no side effects at all.It is meant for all- irrespective of age, caste, creed, sect, religion, color, background, status, lifestyle or eating habits.

There is no suppression or discrimination in the world of Vishvas Meditation

Vishvas Meditation can be taken up by everyone and equally benefits everyone:

  • Whether you are a child, teenager, an adult or a senior.
  • Whether you are a student, an athlete, artist, teacher, writer, scientist, sportsman, or a simple housewife.
  • Whether you are looking for a deeper meaning in life or just a healthy, stress-free life.
  • No matter what your lifestyle, profession, eating habits or wardrobe is – you can be a vegetarian or a non vegetarian, you can practice it in your blues jeans, t-shirt, Nike shoes, bathrobe or a business suit! You do not need to suppress or repress your lifestyle, eating habits etc. in order to take up meditation.

Let meditation do for you what you cannot

Swami Vishvas Ji explains, “Suppression is a Sin in Life! The moment you suppress yourself of something, your mind begins to crave for it all the more. Such is the nature of the mind. Remember, meditation is NO struggle with the mind. Meditation is not suppression. Meditation is self- awakening and awareness. Simply ADD meditation to your life and all the other qualities will automatically follow. Let meditation do for you what you cannot!”

Vishvas Meditation is not about Suppression, Conversion or Change. Vishvas Meditation is about Transformation.

Meditation is a subject of Vibrations (alpha rhythms). Here, we talk about the Posture and Timings etc. that will help you maintain the vibrations and spiritual energy generated during meditation, speeding up your inner growth.

Meditation is not Bookish knowledge. Meditation is a subject of Vibrations. Meditation is LIVE !

Meditation is God’s grace, Guru’s grace. It is to be shared, not to be sold. Meditation has no package deal. It is not a commercial commodity of the market. Meditation is a subject of Vibrations, not bookish. It cannot be achieved by merely reading books. Meditation is a practical subject.

Here we mention certain facts about meditation that will ensure a successful journey within.

  •  Never evaluate, judge or analyze your meditation. Expectation is a big hurdle in meditation. Seeking is the subject of the ‘Future’. The entire purpose of meditation is to bring you into the ‘Present’.

As Swami Ji states, “The Past is gone, the Future is unknown. So act, act, act in Present.”Vishvas Meditation opens up an eternity in the ‘Now’.One must embrace the present moments rather than looking for future benefits. Meditation for the sake of meditation will help you to get rid of all unnecessary and negative thoughts.

  • Never compare your meditation with that of others. Everyone is a winner in meditation which is a highly personal journey of self-discovery. The purpose of meditation is not to accomplish things but rather to realize our true nature. Vishvas Meditation softens the “Winner/Loser” aspect of competition, guiding you towards self improvement.
  • Group meditation is better for beginners.

Swami Ji explains, “Group meditation has more vibrations. There are various therapeutic benefits of group   meditation. However, that doesn not mean that you cannot meditate individually. Do not worry about things you cannot control.”

  • When you meditate, a lot of vibrations come out of you. Using a mat/blanket made of pure silk or wool will retain these vibrations. Silk and wool have such properties. The mat should not be of any cotton or synthetic material and it should not be shared with others, as we all have different vibrations.
  • Keep your spine straight when you meditate, as it keeps the energy in circulation.
  • Breathing has no role in natural meditation. Vishvas Meditation is the easiest and most natural form of meditation where you simply make no efforts at all. Just keep breathing without paying any attention to your breaths.
  • Meditation at random times each day is better than no meditation, but it is not ideal either. A regular schedule is best for a calm mind and good health. In the beginning, you may not know why it’s important to meditate regularly but soon you will realize what a wondrous and beneficial thing meditation is.

Swami Vishvas Ji prescribes a regular meditation routine for people with health problems that are basically imbalances of internal forces.

  • If it is necessary for you to place a limit on the time you spend in meditation, then it is advisable to set an alarm, so that your thoughts are not preoccupied with time.
  • Do not get disappointed if you fall asleep during meditation. It just signifies that you were tired and probably required a nap to rest your mind. If the mind-body is in a tired state, meditation first dispels all the tiredness. This helps the meditator gain relaxation and develop interest in meditation. Then, meditation starts working actively. As you progress in meditation, you will gain awakening and energy.

Meditation energizes you, strengthens your willpower, gives you balance and suffuses you with bliss. It’s a wonderful tonic for good health. Develop concentration and contemplation, right thinking and relaxation through Vishvas Meditation.

REMEMBER

The quality of one’s existence is one’s own responsibility. Transform yourself first and then you can change the world around too!

Meditation is a subject of Vibrations (alpha rhythms). Here, we talk about the Posture and Timings etc. that will help you maintain the vibrations and spiritual energy generated during meditation, speeding up your inner growth.

  Posture
  • Sitting in cross legged position is beneficial. This is called the circular posture that allows the spiritual energy called ‘Chetna Shakti’ to flow freely up the spine, which is an important aspect of meditation- it happens automatically in meditation. For those who cannot sit with legs crossed (due to pains, physical injury, backache or simply age factor) can use a chair as it will be more comfortable for them.
  • However, meditation in sitting posture may not be possible everywhere, as in school or at work, but that does not mean that you deny yourself its benefits. It makes work more enjoyable and enhances performance if you devote a few minutes to Vishvas Meditation during short breaks. For this, chair meditation is ideal. (For more details, read the article ‘Chair Meditation‘).
  • You can even meditate while lying down in bed, making it more comfortable than the seated posture, especially for those who are not in the best physical shape. (For more details, read ‘Meditation in Bed‘).
Timings
  • The two timings that are best for meditation are morning (before sunrise) and evening (during sunset).
    Swami Vishvas Ji explains,
“Meditation is a subject of vibrations-alpha rhythms. These are the timings when the cosmos has maximum vibrations and there is least effect of gravitational pull on your body, allowing the flow of energy upwards with greatest ease. However, if these timings do not fit your schedule, you will have to choose a time best suited for yourself. You may follow the basic guidelines of sitting before starting your day’s work as that is the time when the mind is fresh and not cluttered with too many thoughts, or after the day is over as it will dispel all the tiredness that the body has gathered through the day – freeing the mind of unwanted thoughts, burden and worries.”
  • However, it does not mean that you cannot meditate during the day. Of course, you can! You can even meditate before going to bed. That will help you stay connected with your origin, inner depths and inner consciousness, making you enjoy a sound and rejuvenating sleep. Meditation is the best medicine to enjoy a good night’s sleep. (Also read article,’Meditation in Bed’).
  • Time is the crucial factor. Ideally, your energy peak and your free time should coincide. In other words, it is better to meditate during times of peak energy. If you are in an energy slump due to exertion, you may just fall asleep. If that happens, do not get disappointed. It just signifies that you were in a tired state, either mentally or physically and needed rest. Meditation first dispels all the tiredness, providing you complete relaxation which may result in sleep. As you progress in meditation, you will gain awakening and energy.
  Duration
  • Adults can begin with 15 to 20 minutes twice a day or for half-an- hour at a stretch, depending on the comfort level. Children can start with seven to eight minutes twice a day. Gradually, increase sittings to 45 minutes, an hour in a day or even longer, again depending on your comfort level.
  • Instruct the people around you to respect your meditation time.
  • For a quick reduction in stress, increase the length of your meditation. Expand your awareness day by day. It will give more balance and harmony to your life.
  • A regular meditation routine is prescribed for people with health problems which are basically imbalances of internal forces.
  • Meditation at random times each day is better than no meditation, but it is not ideal either. A regular schedule is best for a calm mind and good health.

As Swami Ji states, “In the beginning, you may not know why it’s important to meditate regularly. But  soon, you will realize what a wondrous thing it is!”

There is no limit to this amazingly vast subject. The more you explore, the more you procure. Vishvas Meditation is the most natural,  original and simplest form of meditation, having no side effects at all, as this meditation process is a non-doing state.

Meditation is the journey from noise to silence, from chaos to peace
